The U.S. dollar weakened within the upper 109 yen level Thursday morning in Tokyo.

At noon, the dollar was quoted at 109.61-66 yen, against 109.81- 91 yen in New York and 110.12-13 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The euro traded at 1.4773-4778 dollars and 162.00-05 yen, against 1.4742-4752 dollars and 161.97-162.07 yen in New York and 1.4759-4760 dollars and 162.53-57 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday.
