Swiss police seized a total of 3,389 counterfeit euro bills in 2007, more than twice the number in 2006, the official Swissinfo news website reported on Friday.
The most popular note with counterfeiters was 100 euros, which accounted for 40 percent of the seizures, followed by 50 euros (30 percent) and 200 euros (16 percent), according to figures released by the Federal Police Office.
The fact that 70 percent of the notes had been made by the same method suggests that only a limited number of workshops are involved, the police said.
