  • Macao's Visitor Expenditure Up 5 Pct in Q1

  • Macao saw its visitor per-capita spending for the first three months of 2008 rose by 5 percent year- on-year to 1,730 patacas (216 U.S. dollars), according to the figures released on Friday by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

    The figures showed that, among the visitors, those from the Chinese Mainland outspent the others, with per-capita expenditure standing at 3,430 patacas (429 U.S. dollars) in the period.

    Meanwhile, visitors' per-capita shopping spending decreased by 3 percent to 737 patacas (92 U.S. dollars), of which expenses on local food products and clothing accounted for 29 percent and 23 percent respectively, according to the figures.

    The same period also saw average length of stay of visitors extended to 1.2 days, said DSEC.
