TCL's global revenues amounted to RMB 51.6 billion (US$6.7 billion) in 2006. It employs over 60,000 employees in more than 80 countries and regions worldwide covering Asia, America, Europe and Australia. It has distributors and agents in over 40 countries and regions selling TVs under the TCL, Thomson and RCA brands, as well as mobile handsets under the TCL and Alcatel brands. In 2006, more than 21 million TV sets and 11 million handsets were sold worldwide. The Group’s sales revenue from overseas markets surpassed that from the domestic PRC market, a testimony to its position as a global company.

TCL Corporation has set up research and development offices, together with a dozen research and development branch offices, in China, the US, France and Singapore. It has over 20 manufacturing and processing plants located in various countries including China, Poland, Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam.

TCL has benefited from the reforms and opening up of China in the last two decades. In keeping with its dedication, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, it has grown rapidly from a small company to an exemplary enterprise in China's electronics and information technology industry. In 1999, TCL started exploring opportunities in overseas markets by exporting products under its own brand name to emerging markets and expanding through acquisition of established brands in Europe and the US. This has firmly established TCL as a pioneer amongst leading Chinese enterprises on their path to global expansion.

Today, TCL is an integrated enterprise that engages in three core businesses, namely, multimedia electronics, mobile communications and digital electronics. Its products encompass home appliances, key components (modules, semiconductor chips, displays and power supplies), illumination and lighting devices and audio-visual equipment.

The TCL brand was valued at approximately RMB 36.2 billion (US$4.7 billion) in 2006 and ranks amongst the top three most valuable Chinese brands. It was ranked fourth in "The Top 100 Chinese Electronic Information Technology Enterprises" in 2006, the 10th consecutive year it has ranked amongst the top 100.
